Yeah, the Winchester, Browning and Marlin are better guns, but the Henry isnt a bad gun. They have smooth actions , good triggers, good barrels and nice wood. The Marlin is not quite as classic looking, but it has a heavy target barrel, a wider forend, is a true take-down model and has that microgrove. Both have that pistol grip and nice lumber. My old eyes are having trouble focusing on the front sight. I can't find a 4X scope that suits me to go on top of that little receiver as I can't find a good compact scope in the 8" range. At the end of the old Winchester Company production, the 9422 had more hand work and fitting than any other model in the line.
